Many conclude that this means value is disappearing.

It isn't.

It is relocating.

If intelligence becomes abundant, other resources become relatively scarcer—and therefore more valuable.

Trust becomes more valuable because people need to know which answers to rely on.

AI follows exactly the same logic.

The mistake many organisations make is trying to protect yesterday's source of value.

They continue investing in activities that are rapidly becoming commodities while overlooking the new scarcity emerging around them.

leaders should increasingly ask:

"Which of our competitive advantages become abundant through AI—and what becomes scarce instead?"

This shift changes strategic priorities completely.

It influences product development, pricing, positioning, hiring, customer relationships and investment decisions.

Efficiency is only the first-order effect of AI.

Value relocation is the second-order effect.

And second-order effects are where the largest opportunities usually emerge.

Perhaps the most important question for every executive over the next decade is therefore not whether AI will replace people.

It is whether their organisation recognises where business value is relocating before competitors do.
